Description
Tournament Fishing Species:
- Blackspot Tuskfish
- Coral Trout (All Species)
- Crayfish (All Species)
- Reef Jack
- Spangled Emperor
- Mystery Fish
Spearfishing Tournament Rules:
- Must be a 2-person team i.e. 2x adults or 1x adult and 1x junior.
- All fish and crayfish eligible for weigh-in must be weighed during the times and dates shown in the Schedule of Events below (no late weigh-ins). Fish may have been iced down but not frozen. Weigh-in Cards must be presented at weigh-in.
- All fish must be captured by the competitor using rubber or compressed air speargun or similar device, or by hand spear.
- No breathing aid other than a snorkel shall be permitted. Competitors must be immersed in the water at the time of spearing of any fish.
- Assisted catches are ineligible for any score. An assisted catch is one where another person contributed muscular power or equipment towards the catch.
- Each team can weigh in 2 of each species per team not per angler for the total of the two days. The combine weights will determine the winner and runner up i.e. The champion team will be total weight.
- The meritorious fish isn’t included in the total weight but a separate prize for any angler that captures the heaviest one. The meritorious fish will be announced at the briefing.
- All fish must meet Queensland Fishing Rules and Regulation for minimum and maximum sizes. Any fish that doesn’t meet this will not be weighed.
- All fish must be weighed whole with gills and guts intact.
- All dive teams must report to the weigh-in station by the times and dates shown in the Schedule of Events. Late weigh in will not be accepted.
- Overnight Spearfishing is not permitted.
Spearfishing Safety Rules:
- Each entry to consist of a Team of two people i.e. 2x Adults or 1x Adult and 1x Junior.
- Dive One Up One Down – Dive with a buddy and practice one up and one down. Watch your buddy dive down and return safely to the surface. Make eye contact, blackouts can occur 15 seconds after ascent. If you are diving with someone not as experienced as yourself, stay within their limits not yours.
Prizes:
Champion Team: $1,000 + Name on Trophy
Runner Up Team: $500 + Individual Trophy
Mystery Fish (Individual): DiveR Fins
Junior Door Prize: DiveR Fins
Tickets:
The Entry Fee includes entry in the major draw for the Tinny, Motor and Trailer and other lucky door prizes – even if you don’t fish.
The Entry Fee also includes T Shirt, Giveaways and Presentation Dinner, (additional person fee applies to no-entries. Bookings by 3pm Sunday 23rd).
