The Oceanic FDX-i 1st stage provides an improved flow rate and greatly reduced weight. Additionally, the FDX-i 1st stage features a more ergonomic port positioning. This provides for better hose routing compared to the classic right angle first stages, and gives you superior comfort.
The cold forged, FDXi First Stage is environmentally sealed. The in-line design limits the pressure loss inherent in “L” type first stage designs. This makes the FDX-i more efficient and lighter due to its compact form which, again, increases your diving comfort.
You will find a number of benefits from this type of first stage design. None of the delicate internal parts are exposed-to-contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. When using your reg, these environmental contaminants can cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the mechanisms deteriorating its overall performance.
In addition to this, the FDXi first stage has a secondary diaphragm to completely seal-off the main spring cavity. A sealed balanced diaphragm design, Enviro Kit and patented DRT (Dry Regulator Technology) isolate the main internal components. It also means the FDX-i is excellent for ice diving as it won’t freeze up. Don’t forget that it’s also perfect for diving in waters filled with contaminants or sediment because it won’t corrode!
